Manchester Vermont, Home Renovation and Addition

The existing house, a 1970's weekend cabin, was a simple one story wood frame building. Inside, a continuous 8 foot high ceiling felt claustrophobic and oppressive. By replacing the trusses over the central areas with new and more responsive roof trusses, a second story loft could be introduced and the overall space opened up to the landscape and natural light. As with all our projects, a passive solar system is introduced to allow the sun to warm the floor in the winter and shade in the summer.
